Sexual concerns can be difficult to bring up, even with someone you trust. You can talk here about desire, discomfort, pleasure, uncertainty, and the parts you haven’t known how to explain.

Sex therapy is talk therapy. There is no physical contact or examination. You decide what you’re ready to talk about, and we go at that pace.

Concerns we can work on

  • Differences in desire, or changes in what you want
  • Pain during sex and its emotional or relationship impact, alongside medical care
  • Erectile or orgasm difficulties and anxiety around sex
  • Shame connected to religion, family, identity, or past experiences
  • Sex after trauma
  • Sensory needs and the ways ADHD or autism can affect intimacy
  • Trust, communication, and sexual boundaries

What sessions can involve

We might look at when a concern shows up, what you notice in your body, what you expect of yourself, and how you talk about it with a partner. From there we work out what you want to feel or do differently.

You can find words for what you want, where your limits are, and what you’re unsure about, and get ready for a conversation with a partner. You can also take time to understand your own experience before you decide what to share.

Kink, non-monogamy, and LGBTQIA+ experiences

You can talk openly about kink, consensual non-monogamy, sexual orientation, and gender. None of these is treated as the problem. We’ll work on what you came in for and what you want from your sex life.

There is room for pleasure, for uncertainty, and for a life in which sex has a different place than other people expect.

The body matters

Pain and changes in sexual function can involve physical as well as emotional factors. Therapy can support the emotional and relationship parts of care alongside medical evaluation or pelvic floor treatment.

If it would help for me to talk with one of your other clinicians, I’ll ask your permission first, and you decide what I share.

Training and fit

I’m a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor pursuing a PhD in Human Sexuality, Sex Therapy Track, at Widener University. I have clinical experience in sex therapy and a yearlong certificate in Affirmative Therapy for Transgender Communities.

Sex therapy here is individual therapy. A partner can join some sessions if you’d like, or you can do this work on your own. I don’t offer couples therapy. At the consult, you can ask about my experience with your particular concern.
